Larry Dean Dixon

A Life of Hard Work & Honest Songs

Mississippi Roots

Born to the land, raised in the South.

Larry Dean Dixon came into the world in Oklahoma, born to a seventeen-year-old hardworking and loving mother who married a soldier — a farmer, horse trainer, and carpenter. But Mississippi is home. It’s where he was raised, where his roots run deep, and where he still works the land today.

He grew up farming and surrounded by music, learning early that a hard day’s work and a good song were two sides of the same honest life.

Raised on Music

A house full of fiddle, guitar, and song.

His biggest musical influence was his father, who played guitar, fiddle, and piano entirely by ear and sang from the heart. Some of Larry’s earliest memories are of nights spent gathered with family and friends — in living rooms and around open fires — just playing music for the love of it.

That spirit never left him. To this day, he walks around with a song in his head all day long.

A Life of Hard Work

Oilfields, cattle, and a first record at seventy.

Larry spent most of his life working the oilfield all over the world, all while building up a cattle farm in Mississippi that he still operates today. Grit, determination, and hard work are woven into everything he does.

At the age of seventy, with the help of his producer grandson, he finally cut his first album. In the four years since — still working and still farming — he has recorded six albums. He is, above all, a storyteller.

Faith & Family

Anchored by his Lord and the people he loves.

Larry’s life is characterized by hard work, grit, determination, and a deep faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. He is the proud father of four sons and one daughter, and grandfather to five granddaughters and four grandsons.

Every song he writes carries a piece of that life — the family, the faith, and the hard-earned wisdom of a man who has truly lived.
